Many of the people in my family own their own businesses, including my father who is the founder and operator of a craft home-building company, Hanks Custom Builders. Growing up in this environment created a great sense of ownership and responsibility for my work and the things I create.
I began my career in the culinary arts. After graduating from The Culinary Institute of America I worked as an efficiency consultant for restaurants in Austin, Texas (Hillside Farmacy & Ah Sing Den), and Albuquerque, New Mexico (Nexus Brewery). Helping these restaurants succeed helped me realize my fondness for tracking and managing all the intricate financial components of running a business.
I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University where I learned about my unique passion for accounting and financial concepts. My interest is to stay up to date with the regulations which are continually changing as well as expand my knowledge on perspectives from accounting and financial experts.
